Pedigree, affordable dog food & dog treats

Who doesn’t know Pedigree? The dog brand that we all grew up with. It offers everything, from dog bites for better teeth, to special food for puppies or just regular food to keep your dog healthy and everything in between. The brand has made many dogs happy with their treats and many owners with the health of their dog. Since its establishment, it has created such a big name that it is a brand that cannot be missed. Not only because of their core business, which we have just described. But also because of their side projects.

Most notable side projects

The bigger part of the side projects that Pedigree has engaged in has to do with charity. And this involves mostly pet charities. For example, it has supported pet shelters in its main markets for over 10 years already. In cities like Dublin, Lisbon and Amsterdam there are a lot of stray dogs. Unfortunately, people think it’s ok to buy a cute little puppy and then abandon them when they grow bigger. Luckily, these cities have a lot of pet shelters to help these poor animals in need. But these cannot survive without outside help. After all, keeping several dogs healthy is not exactly cheap. Good thing that Pedigree is always willing to help.

A new CEO

About a year ago, Pedigree hired a new CEO, Seth Johnston. While this new CEO made sure all the good things like the quality of the product and the help for good causes remained the same, he was quite different from his predecessor. On the first day of the new job he danced into his office. He has the radio on 24/7 and throws dancing contests for the Pedigree employees. It cannot be a surprise that he is very much into music. So it makes sense that he would want to do something for this industry. Even though it doesn’t have to do with dogs. Although, music makes people happy and happy owners make for happy dogs.

Helping South American artists

So Seth decided to start sponsoring the music industry as well. Preferably up and coming artists that are creating great music but cannot make ends meet yet. An industry that is qualitatively very developed is the South American music industry. Some of the best artists in the world come from this part. However, not much is put in place for up and coming artists. Before they reach the level of success to be able to live off their music, years go by during which the artists often have to work several jobs to get by. And all that stress is not only bad for the creativity, but also for the voice of a singer. That is why Seth decided to sponsor Cantilena Records.

Possible new artist

One of our favourite philanthropists, Seth, learned about us from an aspiring new artists from Fortaleza, Brazil. He met Odete Melo when he travelled to Fortaleza for a business trip. She sang at a Forró bar and caught his eye immediately. Needless to say, his interest in Forró music spiked as well. This type of music comes from the northeast of Brazil and the name is an abbreviation of For All, said with a Brazilian accent. At the end of the night they started talking and Odete told Seth all about her ambitions. One of them was being signed to Cantilena Records and that’s how Seth heard about us. The rest is history.
